Javi Guerra is going through a great moment. His contract renewal until 2029, celebrated in the best possible way with two goals against Torino FC in the Trofeu Taronja held at Mestalla, marks an important milestone in the building of Valencia CF’s project and reinforces his commitment to writing his own story as a symbolic, local, homegrown player. The midfielder from Gilet shares his good feelings and excitement for the 2025–26 season in this interview.
Happy to keep growing alongside the Club
I’m happy because it’s what I wanted—to stay at the Club. I think I’ve also earned it, and I hope this will be a great season for all of us and that we can achieve wonderful things. Happy to keep growing alongside the Club.
I’m happy because it’s what I wanted—to stay at the Club. I think I’ve also earned it, and I hope this will be a great season for all of us and that we can achieve wonderful things.
Getting back to the good form of last season
We didn’t start the season the way we all wanted, but the team completely changed its mindset. The good feelings came back, both collectively and individually.
His renewal is special as a player trained at the VCF Academy
As you say, for those of us from here, from Valencia, who came through the youth academy, the Club’s badge means so much more. You feel it from within, and I’m happy to keep being here and to keep progressing.
A dream come true
I’ve always had the dream of playing in the First Division, and luckily it happened with Valencia CF. I’m from Valencia, an academy graduate, and I feel good—confident. I feel that I have an important role in the team and that I’m delivering the performance the coach and the group are looking for. I’m happy to be able to stay here and keep helping.
A midfield reference with the coach’s trust
Since Corberán arrived, he gave me that confidence which really helped me. I loosened up more, and good performances followed. I think I repaid that trust with strong performances.
He celebrated his renewal with two goals against Torino FC
In preseason, I didn’t have the best feelings, but this renewal has done me a lot of good—it was like I renewed my contract and immediately scored two goals, something I think I had never done before. I just hope I haven’t used them all up and can score more during the season.
A message for the fans
Come and support us, because you’re a very important part of the team and our performance, especially here at Mestalla. The numbers speak for themselves: the people who come to the stadium are incredible, and anything good is always welcome. From the fans, I hope they keep cheering and helping as always, and from us, we’ll try to give everything and bring plenty of joy.
